Most Friday mornings we gather as an MCS community in our gym for Praise Service. Students take turns leading our Praise services (usually by grade) and have opportunities to lead in prayer, scripture reading and worship.
We strive to create opportunities to deepen each child’s commitment to Christ and to prepare them for a life of Christian discipleship. Students are encouraged to give locally of both their service and their resources by helping out with local agencies like Kid’s Food Basket or Muskegon Rescue Mission. They also have participated in “Coin Wars” to raise funds for missions in Peru, water filters and books for Africa, and more. They participate in our “Stewardship and Service Week” every year with various opportunities (like raking elderly neighbors’ lawns) to show God’s love.
At the beginning of the school year, students K-6th are placed in small Family Groups where the older students have the opportunity to show leadership and bonds of friendship are made across grade lines. Groups work on projects that review the monthly Praise Service theme and partner together at events like MCS Field day as well.
