Hello! My name is Sara Keegstra de Hernandez and I am excited to be serving students as a Spanish ESS. I graduated from Kuyper College majoring in Bible/Theology and Cross-Cultural studies with minors in communications and TESOL. I had the amazing opportunity to intern at UNELA (Universidad Evangélica de las Americas) in San Jose, Costa Rica. I lived in Guatemala for five years as a missionary and that country will always hold a special place in my heart. I lived in a group home there and met my husband who is from El Salvador. We lived in El Salvador for six months before moving to Michigan after living in four houses and three countries during our first year of marriage!

Since moving back to Michigan in 2015, where I am originally from, I have had the privilege of working with refugee youth as a teacher and administrator. We live in a diverse and amazing world that needs to know about God’s amazing, unfailing, never-ending love. There is always something new to learn and I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside the students at MCS as we learn together!
