Staff

My name is Russ Gabel and I’m excited to serve Muskegon Christian School as the 5th grade teacher.  For the first 23 years of my adult life, I served a number of churches in the role of youth pastor and outreach pastor.  I also launched and ran a faith-based outdoor ministry for 10 years, with a focus on using fishing and outdoor survival activities to build relationships with students so that I could share my faith in Christ.  More recently, I moved into the role of classroom teacher.  I’ve taught for over 4 years at Timberland Academy, Three Oaks Academy, and now here at Muskegon Christian School.  I’m excited to be back in the world of Christian Education, where I look forward to sharing my adventures and experiences and we journey through our year together.

Personally, I grew up on the east side of the state in a city called Livonia.  I moved out to Grand Haven in 1998 and have lived here ever since.  I am married, and have 5 children, plus an assortment of exchange students, and several large dogs.  God has filled my life with so many amazing teachers and I hope to have the chance to share some amazing experiences and learning with my students!

My deep hope is that my students experience amazing growth as they celebrate their God-given gifts, overcome their unique challenges, and join God in His great adventure for their lives.
