Mrs. Lisa Bonilla

Development Director, Educational Support, Pre-K Spanish Teacher

I grew up in Frankenmuth, MI where I loved small town German life. From there, I went to GVSU for 1 year, but then moved to Honduras for 4 years to teach at a small bilingual Christian school when I was 18. Maturing in a foreign country while learning a new language and culture really added richness to my life! This is where I met my husband Jose. From there we moved to Virginia to finish up college at Liberty University. After we obtained our degrees, we moved back home to Michigan to be near family again. We have been in Muskegon since 2017. I have my Bachelor’s in Crisis Counseling and minored in Christian Counseling and part of a Master’s degree in professional counseling. I started teaching in the Spanish Immersion program in 2018 and have worked in several capacities within the collaborative since. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats, but the most wild of all – our son Jude.

You’ll probably see me at events taking pictures or working on marketing and fundraising in some capacity. Great to meet you!

Favorite Verse:

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
