Mrs. Pilar Vanderstelt

Spanish Immersion Program Coordinator

Hola! I am Pilar Vanderstelt and I am blessed to serve MCS in the SI program. I was born and raised in Reynosa, Mexico. I graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua with a degree in Pedagogy and the Universidad de Tamaulipas with a Master’s degree in Human Development. I enjoy living in west Michigan with my husband Jeff and son Jacob.

As a native Spanish speaker I am passionate about sharing the love I have for my language and culture here with the MCS community. My experience in education spans more than 25 years and includes teaching preschool through college. I taught Spanish immersion for five years at ZCS and nine years here at MCS. Learning a new language can be intimidating and scary, but also fun. I believe that a cultural, creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching a language keeps students engaged and motivated.

It is my hope that each student becomes passionate for God and uses their Spanish language to share God’s good news, fulfill their purpose and serve others.

Favorite Verse:

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
