Ms. Mariana Marrero
1st SI Teaching Assistant
I am Mariana Marrero, born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, a land that taught me the value of family, community, and love for others. From a very young age, I felt a special connection to caring for and teaching children; I grew up caring for my nephews, cousins, and every child who came into my life. I inherited this immense love for childhood from two very important women: my beloved grandmother, Hilariana García García (may she rest in peace), and my aunt, whose example inspired me to pursue early childhood education.
Four years ago, I arrived in Muskegon with my family in search of a better life. Thanks to the decision and efforts of my mother, Dora Miranda, today I have the opportunity to pursue the career I am pursuing. I am about to graduate from Muskegon Community College with an Associate of Science and Arts in Early Childhood Education. Currently, I have the privilege of working as a teacher’s assistant at Muskegon Christian High School, where every week I will learn, grow, and strengthen my career.
For me, teaching is not just about transmitting knowledge, but about creating a safe space, full of respect, joy, and trust, where every child can feel loved and encouraged to explore the world. I firmly believe that every student is unique and deserves to be accompanied with patience, faith, and dedication.
