Hi! My name is Lis Miedema and I graduated from Wheaton College with a BA in Elementary Education and Spanish. Prior to Muskegon; Holland, MI; Wheaton, IL; and Managua, Nicaragua have held special places in my heart and have been a form of home to me.  God brought me to MCS in 2013 and it’s been such a blessing teaching 4th grade here. I absolutely love kids and love watching and helping them learn and grow. It is truly a joy to work in a Christian school; I feel blessed being able to talk openly about Christ with my students, pray with them, help them walk closer to the Lord each day, and learn what it means to bring shalom to the chaos in our world. Working in a classroom is an amazing gift; I feel called to teach, but I learn so much from my students in return. My deep hope for me and my students is that we develop an authentic love for Christ, the One who loves us most, and that our love moves us to joyfully be like Christ and bring shalom to the world.

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband David, hiking and camping, being in, on, or near the lake, reading, cooking, playing games and anything with family and friends.

Some special Bible verses to me are Philippians 4:6-7, Jeremiah 29:13, and Psalm 62: 1-2.

My deep hope is that we develop an authentic love for Christ, the One who loves us most, and that our love moves us to joyfully be like Christ and bring shalom to the world.
